How do I give notice to move out?

If you're planning to move out of your retirement living home, it's important to let us know in advance.

  • Monthly tenancy - you need to give at least one calendar months’ notice.

  • Weekly tenancy - you need to give at least four weeks' notice.

Ways to give notice

You can let us know by:

Once we receive your notice, we’ll send you a letter confirming your moving date and provide guidance on what to do before you leave.

Please note: if you move out without telling us, you’ll still be charged rent and it may affect your ability to rent from us in the future.

Can I transfer to another A2Dominion home?

Yes, you may be able to transfer to another home if your current property no longer meets your needs.

  • If you're having difficulty moving around your home and it can't be adapted, we’ll do our best to find you a more suitable property, such as one without stairs.

  • If you want to move closer to family or friends outside the area, you’ll need to contact the local council in that area. They may have a waiting list depending on availability.

  • If there’s a serious issue with your current home, speak to your housing officer. We’ll explore options and may be able to arrange a transfer.

Can I swap homes with someone else?

No, mutual exchanges (home swaps) are not permitted in retirement living. However, if you're having issues with your current home or want to explore other options, please speak to your housing officer or contact our customer centre. We’ll do what we can to help.
