I smell gas - what should I do?

1 min read

If you smell gas in your home, it’s important to act quickly and stay safe. Follow these steps immediately:

  • Turn off the gas supply at the meter.

  • Check if a gas tap has been left on or if a pilot light has gone out on your cooker or boiler.

  • Call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999.

  • Open the windows and doors.

  • Don't use any electric switches or anything with a spark or flame.

  • Let us know by calling 0800 432 0077 at any time

Engineers from the National Gas Emergency Service will come and check your home for free.
